McCoy Road will Close from Wilson Boulevard to Route 72 (Wrangle Hill Road) as Part of the Route 72/Route 1 Diverging Diamond Interchange Project
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that Phase 3 of the construction of the Route 72/Route 1 Diverging Diamond Interchange Project will be starting and will necessitate the closure of McCoy Road from Wilson Boulevard to Route 72 (Wrangle Hill Road) from Monday, June 13 through Monday, June 27.
Detour Routes:
- Traffic heading north along McCoy Road will begin using the newly completed Wilson Boulevard to access Route 72 (Wrangle Hill Road).
- Traffic heading west along Route 72 (Wrangle Hill Road) wanting to access McCoy Road southbound will be detoured to the light at Wilson Boulevard.
During construction, the signal timing at Route 72 and Wilson Boulevard will be adjusted to handle the predicted traffic at the intersection. Detour routes will also be posted.
At the end of the project, McCoy Road will be reconfigured at the intersection of Route 72 to be a right in/right out configuration.
Travelers destined to travel either west bound along Route 72 from McCoy Road, or travelers on Route 72 destined to travel southbound on McCoy Road will continue to use the new Wilson Boulevard extension through a safer signal-controlled intersection.
